Favorite Band was a Disappointment
My favorite band for 6 years now has been Chance The Rapper and this was my 9th time seeing them live. Firstly, I was thoroughly disappointed by the show. Instead of having one line with which to take people from, the venue set up three separate lines which slowed the process down even further. The doors were supposed to open at 8 pm, yet not everyone was even inside the building until far after 8:30. They took too long doing the sound check for the quality of sound that they produced, the opening band did not come on until around 9. The vocals and bass were way too loud, they sounded terrible. The band itself was not very appealing, partially to do with the poor sound quality. Everyone was continually pushing each other and the crowd was very rude during the about 45 minutes that Chance The Rapper took to set up and do their sound check. It is not encouraging or exciting to have to wait such a long time for a band with a drunk and high crowd. When Chance The Rapper did finally come one, their set and sound was obviously amazing. However, the crowd had no idea how to behave at a show, people were angry that some kids wanted to mosh while other didn't. They played a satisfactory set and the sound was much better than the previous band. During "The Light and the Glass" everyone decided it was time to light up their joints and cigarettes, which made the venue incredibly smoky. There was no understanding of how to separate the groups and everyone was a mass of uncomfortable bodies. The smoke alarm went off, and many people were obviously uncomfortable. Overall, it was too much money for such a poor show. The band played well, but for me it wasn't worth having to put up with the masses of drunk and rude individuals who were only there to have an excuse to drink and smoke.
